Trent from Rod and Rifle Tackleworld in Katherine shares his basic rod and reel combos to use when you’re out on the Victoria River.
Bait casters are the most popular type of reel but they do take some practice. They should be run with a 30 pound braid on them.
Glass tip rods are durable and can bend (which you’ll need when you hook up a big one).
Graphite rods are much more sensitive and nicer to use if you’re experienced, but will break if bent the wrong way.
